Presenting an artwork conceived for the 'Stuttgart - Afghanistan: Entangled' exhibition at the Lindenmuseum Stuttgart. This series delves into the migration of materials, notably the prevalence of Ghazni marble in European cultural museums.
Aiming for congruity, I sourced local Travertine Stone from Stuttgart, an emblem of our cultural identity. Rather than using marble sourced from afar, I chose a material closely tied to our community. This selection was instrumental in ensuring the authenticity of my commentary on Afghan marble.
This Travertine Stone was dispatched to the National Museum of Afghanistan, not just as an artwork, but as a reverential offering and a promise of restoration. It symbolizes a shared connection and underscores the imperative of returning displaced marbles through rightful channels.
